Teaching aims:

1.Learn about background knowledge about Tom and Jerry and cartoons

2.Talk about Tom and Jerry

Teaching difficulty:

1.Talk about favorite cartoon

Teaching steps:

Task 1: free talk

Who is Tom and who is Jerry? Which character do you like better? Why?

Task 2: mini-debate

Are Tom and Jerry friends or enemies?

Task 3: listening practice

Listen to the tape and fill in the blank.

Task 4: phrase practice

Students take the initiative to say the phrase quickly and loudly.

Task 5: ask and answer questions

Students ask questions according to the text and others answer.

Task 6: individual talk

Students talk about their favorite cartoon.

教学反思

This lesson aims to provide sufficient background knowledge about cartoon and make students able to talk about Tom and Jerry. These aims are well achieved through the class activities. It’s efficient to make students memorize the new phrases in class. Students actively take part in the game. It’s meaningful to encourage students to ask questions since they haven’t form the habit of questioning. But some parts of the class activities are not dealt with maturely or skillfully. First, the lesson has a quiet beginning, which could have been improved by an interesting video in advance. Next, the question of mini-debate is good, but students are lack of fresh ideas, it would be better to change the order of Mini-debate and dubbing the video. Students could think of more ideas after visual effect. Last, the tasks of the class should be simplified and some important task should be emphasized. In this lesson, it’s better to leave more time for students to dub the video so that students have more chances to speak.

This lesson ,the teacher can arouse the students speak English and use it fully. Therefore, the teacher can achieve her teaching aims. The lesson is rich. And the teacher has rich knowledge. Good.

Zeng is good at learning teaching skills from other teachers who are rich in teaching experience. In her lesson ,she pays more attention to practice of spoken English and let students organize language by themselves in order to learn English by using English. She has a sense of achievement in English teaching. I believe she will be more and more successful!
